Our 5th graders are participating in Step Up Day with our middle school teachers this morning! They submitted questions they have about going into 6th grade next year. It can be scary, even in a small school, to transition into middle school-our teachers do a great job of preparing our students for that change!
May 21st was all about our Class of 2024!
8th graders started their day with a delicious catered breakfast from Louie's Waffle House, followed by a morning of graduation rehearsal, then finished with a clap out. Families were invited back for a graduation ceremony in the evening.
We're so proud of you all and cannot wait to see all that you accomplish in your bright futures! Keep coming back and telling us about the amazing things you're doing!
Congratulations, Class of 2024!
Our band and choir students got a behind the scenes look at the Rialto Square Theatre on May 20th. They toured the theatre, learned about its history, and got to see an organist perform. Thank you to the Rialto volunteers for guiding us and to the Sliver Spoon Family Restaurant for having us for lunch after our tour!

Rockdale Families:
Today, Wednesday, May 15, 2024, Rockdale students and staff were evacuated from the building due to a potential gas leak. This occurred at the time of student arrival. As students were arriving for the day, they were taken to our reunification location.
Rockdale Police and local fire departments were on scene to inspect the building. First responders gave District leadership the all clear at approximately 9:15 AM and all students and staff were able to return to the building safely.
We appreciate the flexibility and understanding of our Rockdale families. Our students, staff, and first responders did an excellent job handling this situation!
Should you have additional questions or concerns, please call the main office or contact Mr. Moland.
Thank you!
Rockdale Families,
Tomorrow, May 14th, is our TCBY Fundraiser! We will be selling, rain or shine, starting at 3:30 PM. Our table will be set up for sales and pre-order pickups at Door F. Each cup is $5.
If your student is a car rider, please pick them up prior to parking and picking up your order!
Thank you for supporting Rockdale School and our PTO!
Wishing all the mothers of Rockdale a very happy Mother's Day! Our students were hard at work this week putting together gifts that celebrate you!
A special thank you to Zonta Club of Joliet for bringing their jewelry pop-up shop to Rockdale School! Kindergarten through fifth grade students were able to pick out two pieces of jewelry to give to the special women in their lives.
We hope you enjoy your day!
Please join us in wishing 6th grader, Jace A., GOOD LUCK as he runs the 8th Grade Boys 110 Meter Hurdles at today's State Track Meet! We're all so proud and will be cheering him on from Rockdale. WAY TO GO, JACE!
GOOD LUCK to our Track and Field team as they compete in Sectionals today!
Today's meet will be at Hope Academy High School (721 S. Washtenaw, Chicago). Come on out and support our Rams!
Thank you, Waste Management, for your generous donation of top soil! Mr. Olson's science classes will be putting it to good use-filling raised garden beds to grow fruits, vegetables, and flowers this spring and summer!
Our 6th-8th grade students showcased their scientific research at yesterday's Science Expo! Rockdale students explored solar, hydro, and mud energy, innovations in medical technology, and the process of extracting DNA. Shout out to Mr. Olson and Ms. Lee for all the support they provided our students this spring as they worked through the scientific method; and a big thank you to ExxonMobil for sponsoring the Expo and to Minooka Intermediate for hosting!
We're grateful to be able to participate in such an awesome event every year; and especially grateful for all the support from our families (and former Rams)! We can't wait to see what innovations our Rockdale students share in the future!
Second Grade Families,
Your students have been hard at work on their Culture Fair projects and are getting ready for their presentations this Friday, May 3rd at 1:45 PM!
If you are planning to join us on Friday, please bring your ID to be scanned into our Raptor system that day or call the main office today or tomorrow to skip the line and get your name tag printed ahead of time.
For additional information, please see the Culture Fair Updates that were sent out by the Second Grade Team.
If you have any questions, please contact your student's homeroom teacher!
The Rockdale Rams Baseball Team has been hard at work during their open gym sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays this spring. Coach Olson and Coach Domenico are happy to announce that their Off Season Ram Award goes to 6th grader, Jordan B., for his hard work, hustle, and positive attitude. Way to go, Jordan!
On Tuesday, April 23rd, our 6th and 7th grade classes traveled to Springfield! They toured the Lincoln Museum, the Illinois State Capitol, and Abraham Lincoln's home and gravesite. Hopefully they're all extra lucky after touching the nose of President Lincoln's statue!
Shout out to Mr. Domenico, Mr. Olson, Ms. Walls, and Ms. Lopez for accompanying our students on this trip; and thank you to the Rockdale PTO for their generous donation!
This spring, our 5th-8th grade classes had the awesome opportunity to learn about rugby! Players from the Chicago Hounds, a Major League Rugby team, came into PE classes and taught some basics of the sport. On Sunday, April 21st, Rockdale 4th-8th grade students were invited to a Hounds game at Seat Geek Stadium. Thank you to the Chicago Hounds and Mr. Hamilton for setting up this experience for our students!
Congratulations to our Rockdale Ram volleyball players who participated in the LL7 Conference All Star games last night!
